How it works
This is only a summary. For comprehensive instructions and doubts, please refer to our full guide here.
Regardless of the category, the criteria is always the same: Design, Editability and Performance.
Design: How visually appealing is the project? Is the usability good?
Editability: Are you using our deco props to edit content without code?
Performance: What is the page speed of your site? Are Core Web Vitals (CWV) approved?
We recommend at least one designer and one developer on each team, but you can choose to work alone as well. Search for teammates in our Discord community. Maximum of five in each group.
In order to submit your project, complete this form. If you'd like to change your submission, please submit a new form and select the "Revision" option.
We will consider your last submission as long as it is delivered by the deadline - SATURDAY at 7 PM (GMT-3). Only one person from your team needs to submit the form, but please include all team members' email addresses.
Build on deco.cx: The only restriction for your projects is that the final web app must be editable using Deco's admin, so your projects should be built on deco.cx.
Use HTMX: We highly encourage you to use HTMX in your projects. We will release a video explaining how to do this. Alternatively, see our docs.
Integrations: You are allowed to integrate with any external source or embed existing services into your project.
Previously developed code: You can use code that has been developed previously, as long as it is ported to our structure.

What is Hackathon 5 - "HTMX Edition"?
Hackathon 5 is a 3-day virtual event hosted by deco.cx from Friday, July 12th to Sunday, July 14th. It focuses on transforming ideas into htmx-powered templates, offering participants an opportunity to showcase their creativity and compete for exciting prizes.
How can I register for Hackathon 5?
Registration for Hackathon 5 is now open! Simply fill out the registration form (CTA below) to sign up and secure your spot in the event. Registration is open until Wednesday July, 10th.
What categories can I participate in, and what are the prizes?
Participants can choose from several categories, including Landing Pages, Storefronts, and the Open Category. Each category winner will receive a swag kit, and cash rewards range from $500 USD to $2,000 USD. Additionally, participants can access our bounty marketplace on Discord and select a project from there. Whenever someone posts a bounty, they offer a cash reward for the job. By completing a paid task from the marketplace and obtaining authorization from the bounty owner, participants can compete for the hackathon prizes with their deliverables.
How will projects be judged?
Projects will be evaluated based on design, editability, performance, and creativity. Winners will be selected based on these criteria, with one winning team and two honorable mentions per category.
Can I work on existing projects or client sites during the hackathon?
Yes, participants are welcome to work on existing projects or client sites, provided they have the necessary authorization to do so. Additionally, participants can explore our bounty marketplace on Discord and select a project from there to complete paid tasks for the hackathon while competing for prizes, given that they obtain authorization from the bounty owner.
What is HTMX, and how does it relate to the hackathon?
HTMX is a powerful library that allows developers to access modern browser features directly from HTML, simplifying the development process and enhancing site speed. To learn more about HTMX and how it's being leveraged in the hackathon, visit their official website: https://htmx.org/.
Are there any prerequisites to participate?
No specific prerequisites are required to participate in Hackathon X, but we strongly advise having at least one developer and one designer in each team. Our tech stack includes TypeScript, React (JSX), Tailwind, and HTMX. For more information, visit our docs: https://deco.cx/docs/.
How can I collaborate with others during the hackathon?
We recommend forming teams with at least one designer and one developer. If you're looking for team members, join our Discord server here (https://deco.cx/discord) and follow the instructions to find new members. Fill in the registration form as soon as possible, and if you need to change anything later (such as adding new members to your team), submit a revision. Groups can have a maximum of five members, and all members who deliver a site will receive a certificate.
How does the Referral Program work?
1. Invite your friends to join the hackathon using your email as the referral code (they should add your email to the registration form where it says "referral code"). 2. Earn $10 USD in Amazon gift cards for each friend who registers and completes the hackathon. 3. The top referrer wins a MacBook Air! Track your progress and see where you stand on our leaderboard: https://experts.deco.cx/referral-leaderboard
Must hackathon entries be created using the deco.cx system?
Websites should be editable using deco's admin, so, yes. Check out our docs for more info on our stack: https://deco.cx/docs/en/overview
